Our History

Two Decades of Risk Management Leadership

The Chartered Risk Management Institute of Nigeria (CRMI) was founded on March 29, 2000 — born from the collective vision of Nigeria's financial sector leaders who recognised the critical need for a dedicated professional body to advance risk management standards.

For over two decades, CRMI has served as the authoritative voice and standard-setter for risk management practitioners in Nigeria. In 2022, the Federal Government formally recognised CRMI's impact by establishing it through Act No. 39 of 2022 — cementing its status as the nation's premier chartered body for risk professionals.

Today, CRMI serves both the financial and non-financial sectors through certification programmes, training, advocacy, and research, building a robust community of risk management professionals across Nigeria.
