Citation

The CRMI-NIGERIA Risk Management Awards honour individuals, institutions and organisations setting the standard for sound risk management across Nigeria and beyond. Awards are organised into three categories: **Category A — Institutional Awards**, **Category B — Risk Management Excellence Awards**, and **Category C — Special Recognition Awards**. Nominations are reviewed and judged by an independent panel. Review each category below and submit your nomination with the required supporting documents. Self-nominations and third-party nominations are both accepted.

Category A

Institutional Awards

Recognises an institutional leader who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to advancing risk-management advocacy, strengthening awareness and promoting the integration of risk-based thinking into governance, policy and institutional practice. It celebrates leadership that has consistently driven conversations, influenced decisions and elevated the profile of risk management within organisations, sectors or national development frameworks.

Recognises an institution that has made outstanding contributions to the development of human capacity in risk management through training, mentorship, education, curriculum development, professional-development programmes or talent-building initiatives. It celebrates sustained efforts to equip professionals and organisations with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to strengthen risk-management practice and culture.

The Risk Regulation Excellence Award recognizes a regulatory institution in Nigeria that has demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to strengthening risk management practices within its regulated sector. The award celebrates regulators that have successfully integrated risk-based approaches into supervision, governance, regulatory oversight, and institutional frameworks, while fostering resilience, transparency, accountability, and sustainable sectoral development.

This award acknowledges regulatory institutions that have significantly advanced enterprise and sector-wide risk management through effective policy formulation, implementation of risk-based supervisory models, promotion of sound governance practices, capacity development, and consistent enforcement of regulatory standards.

This award recognizes a regulatory institution that has demonstrated exceptional resilience, agility, and innovation in maintaining effective regulatory oversight during periods of disruption, emerging risks, technological change, or systemic uncertainty.

The award honours regulatory institution that has proactively strengthened regulatory frameworks, embraced innovative supervisory approaches, leveraged technology and data-driven decision-making, and implemented responsive policies that safeguarded sector stability, protected stakeholders, and enhanced the long-term resilience of the industries under their oversight.

Award Objective

To recognize regulatory institutions that have demonstrated outstanding resilience by anticipating, adapting to, and effectively managing emerging risks through innovative regulatory practices, technology-enabled supervision, and responsive governance while ensuring sector stability and public confidence.

Nomination Questions

1. Emerging Risk or Disruption

Describe a significant disruption, emerging risk, or transformational challenge your institution addressed during the assessment period and explain its potential impact on your regulated sector.

2. Regulatory Response and Innovation

Describe the regulatory measures, policy interventions, supervisory reforms, or innovative solutions implemented in response. Highlight the use of technology, data analytics, digital systems, or other forward-looking approaches where applicable.

3. Strengthening Regulatory Resilience

How did these initiatives improve regulatory effectiveness, support regulated entities, maintain sector stability, and strengthen your institution's resilience and preparedness for future risks?

4. Results and Impact

Provide measurable evidence demonstrating the outcomes of these initiatives, including improvements in regulatory performance, compliance, operational efficiency, stakeholder confidence, sector resilience, or other relevant indicators.

Risk Management Excellence Awards

Recognises individuals and financial institutions whose risk-management units have demonstrated excellence in governance, resilience, innovation and measurable institutional impact.

Recognises an outstanding Chief Risk Officer (or equivalent enterprise risk leader). Awarded by sector — Banking, Insurance, FinTech, Microfinance, Mortgage, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Telecommunications, Agriculture and Real Estate.

Recognises an individual, organisation or institution demonstrating excellence in cyber resilience and digital-risk governance, leadership, innovation and measurable impact in identifying, managing and mitigating digital and cyber risks while promoting security and trust in the digital ecosystem.

Recognises an individual, organisation or institution demonstrating outstanding leadership and measurable impact in integrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into risk-management practice while advancing sustainability, resilience and responsible governance.

Recognises an organisation or institution that has demonstrated exceptional innovation, leadership and measurable impact in advancing risk-management practice within the insurance sector through innovative solutions, operational excellence and strengthened industry resilience.

Recognises public-sector institutions that have demonstrated exceptional implementation of structured risk-management practices to strengthen governance, accountability, operational resilience and service delivery.

Recognises private non-financial organisations that have demonstrated exceptional risk-management practices strengthening resilience, operational efficiency, governance and long-term sustainability.

Recognises an outstanding executive who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing enterprise risk culture, governance and resilience.

Recognises small and medium-sized private non-financial enterprises that have implemented practical and scalable risk-management systems.

Recognises innovation and global relevance across sectors. Sub-categories: Technology Innovation in Risk Management; Excellence in Emerging Risk Management (AI, climate, geopolitical risks); Leading Sustainability Initiative of the Year; Training & Education Excellence in Risk Management; and Excellence in Global Insurance & Risk Management.

Recognises an outstanding emerging professional who has demonstrated exceptional promise, innovation, leadership and measurable impact in advancing risk-management practice — celebrating the next generation of risk leaders.

Category C

Special Recognition Awards

Recognises individuals, organisations, institutions, foundations and public-sector entities that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to humanitarian service, social impact, community development and the advancement of resilience through sustainable, responsible interventions — strengthening communities' ability to anticipate, withstand, adapt to and recover from social, economic, environmental or humanitarian challenges.

Recognises individuals, institutions, community groups, civil-society organisations and private-sector entities that have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation and commitment in addressing security-related risks and strengthening national and community resilience through lawful, sound risk-management practice, strategic collaboration and sustainable resilience-building.
