Dr. Okey Umeano, FRM

20+ years experience in finance, asset and risk management. CFA charterholder, Financial Risk Manager (FRM), FCCA, MBA, PhD in Finance. Versatile and goal-oriented. Mr Okey Umeano has been appointed the Chief Economist of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. He had occupied the position in an acting capacity for 12 months. He has also been Head, Risk Management at SEC, a position which is not yet certain he will leave. Mr Okey obtained his first degree in Applied Biochemistry from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State in 1997. While at Awka, he became the Editor-in-Chief of �The Applied Biochemist, a magazine run by the department of Applied Biochemistry. He had his postgraduate diploma in Computer Science and MBA at the University of Ilorin from 2001-2003. Fourteen years later, he bagged his Msc in Financial Management at Edinburg Business School, Heriot-Watt University, Scotland. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Accountant, and Investment Performance Manager with over 20 years of experience. He holds memberships in Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Global Association of Risks Professionals and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He is the Vice President of CFA Society Nigeria and currently the Chair of its membership committee. Dr. Okey has attended short courses and workshops at The World Bank Treasury, JP Morgan, Bloomberg, Bank for International Settlements, and the International Monetary Fund.
