Kwabena joined Standard Chartered, Nigeria in 2022 as Regional Chief Risk Officer, West Africa. He has over 22 years� experience in the financial sector having held other roles at Standard Chartered Ghana and Barclays Bank Group across several countries in South Africa, Kenya, Seychelles. His previous roles held include Chief Risk Officer Ghana, Chief Risk Officer Seychelles, Regional Credit Officer Johannesburg, Head of Wholesale Credit, Ghana and Head of Risk and Compliance, Seychelles amongst others. Kwabena provides oversight of the enterprise-wide risks and leadership on risk issues, developing and maintaining risk management framework and fostering a strong risk culture across the organisation. He is responsible for enabling the efficient and effective governance of significant risks, and related opportunities for the Nigeria and West Africa franchise and a strategic enabler in integrating risk management in the bank�s strategic initiatives. His role spans across Credit Risk, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Capital and Liquidity Risk and Sustainability. Kwabena is a Chartered Account and as well as a Chartered Management Accountant and holds a master�s degree in finance and Banking from the University of Leicester, U.K. He also holds several certifications in Fraud Management, Credit and Leadership from various institutes. Kwabena is passionate about developing talent and empowering young people and is actively involved in promoting a talent sharing mindset among his peers.
