Major General Kamourdeen Abiodun Role was born on 10th August 1954 at Epe. He had his primary education at Moslem School, Etitale and secondary at Ijebu Muslim College, Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State where he completed in 1971. He was admitted to the Nigerian Defence Academy on 30th December 1974 as an Officer Cadet of Regular 17 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 18th June 1977. Thereafter, he had a distinguished and honourable career spanning 36 years in the Nigerian Army. His civil qualifications include Bachelor of Arts (Special Honours) in Political Science, Bachelor of Science (Special Honours) in Law Enforcement & Master of Public Administration from Jacksonville State University, Alabama, USA. He also holds Master of Science in International Affairs and Diplomacy, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Master of Science in Strategic Studies, University of Ibadan. He also holds a Diploma in French Language. He is an Alumnus of Lagos Business School where he attended the Business Owner Manager Program and Said Business School Oxford, UK where he also attended the Executive Program in Strategic Leadership. For his post-cadet military training, he attended United States Army Military Police School, Anniston, Alabama for his Military Police Officer Basic Course, and Nigerian Army School of Infantry Jaji for his Young Officer’s, Company, and Battalion Commander’s Courses. He also attended Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji for his Junior Staff Course and Ecole Superieur de Guerre Inter-Armees (French War College) Paris, France for his Senior Staff Course. He attended the prestigious National Defence College, Abuja for his Higher Defence Studies. At a point in his career, precisely between 1996 – 1999, MajGen Role was Nigeria’s Defence Adviser accredited to 12 countries in the East and Southern Africa. He was a Chief Instructor at various times in Special Warfare and Tactics Wings and later appointed Colonel General Staff at the Infantry Centre and School Jaji to plan, develop and coordinate the institution’s training programs. He was also a Directing Staff, Principal Staff Officer Co-ordination, and later rose to become the Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies at the National Defence College, Abuja. He commanded the Army Headquarters Garrison, Abuja and thereafter the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army in charge of defence and security of the North Central and North West States of Nigeria, and from where he retired honourably on 30th December 2010. MajGen Abiodun Role specializes in Peace and Security matters, Crisis Management, Diplomacy, Negotiations, Leadership Development (ATD Certified) and Executive Coaching. He is a Resource Person/Facilitator for Nigerian Defence Academy, National Defence College, Army War College, Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management, and an external examiner for the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies. His military decorations include Force Service Star (FSS), Meritorious Service Star (MSS), Distinguished Service Star (DSS), Grand Service Star (GSS), and a Fellow of the Defence College (fdc+) He is a member of the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) Nigeria Institute of Management (MNIM), Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Nigeria Institute of Training and Development (NITAD), Association of Talent Development (ATD USA), and Learning and Development Network International (LDNI). He is a member of the prestigious Metropolitan Club, Lagos. He the President of the Rotary Club of Lagos and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was the former National President of Ijebu Muslim College Old Students Association (IMCOSA). At present, he is the Chief Executive Officer Top Role Consult, a consultancy firm that is engaged in Leadership and Talent Development, Executive Coaching and Mentoring, and Security Consultancy. Gen Role speaks French as a second language. His hobbies include reading, listening to music, and walking. He is married to Deaconess Tolulope Role (nee Osideko) and blessed with children.
